Need
Many cities sponsor recycling events for household
hazardous waste, motor oil and paint. At the same time, old computers are
discarded every day in every part of your city. A computer and electronics
recycling drive is the next logical step for cities to offer as a service to its
residents. People instinctively know that electronics do not belong in the
trash yet do not know that recycling electronics exists as an option. Computer
recycling provides an effective service to residents while allowing the city to
improve diversion reporting to the state.
Recycling
SoCal Computer Recyclers
recycles electronic equipment
safely and properly. Computers and printers are broken down to metals, circuit
boards, components and plastics. We generate virtually no trash from recycling
and are able to reintroduce steel, aluminum, copper and gold back into the raw
materials stream. CRTs (Cathode Ray Tubes), contained in monitors and
televisions, are classified as Universal Waste by the Department of Toxic
Substance Control (DTSC) and must now be administered and reported to the DTSC
on an annual basis. SoCal Computer Recyclers is a registered CRT handler with
both the state of California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and
the Integrated Waste Management Board. All our processes comply with local,
state and federal regulations.
Given the choice between keeping an item in use and
recycling it, SoCal Computer Recyclers always prefers to keep it working. We do
resell used equipment that may have market value, after we have erased all
information on the hard drive. We also actively donate equipment to schools,
churches and non-profit organizations. It is our experience from these events,
however, that residents drop off equipment for one of two reasons: either it is
too old or it is broken. The percentage of equipment we recover for resale or
donations from these events is less than twenty percent.
SoCal Computer
Recyclers
accepts the following types of equipment on this drive: Computers,
Monitors, Printers, Cables, Keyboards, Televisions, Stereo
Equipment, Telephones, VCRs, hand-held computer games, Network
Equipment …practically anything that has a circuit board and a plug.
We do not accept household hazardous waste (HHW),
furniture, white goods (washing machines, refrigerators, etc.), used batteries,
microwave or conventional ovens, or non-computer related mechanical equipment.
Our rule of thumb is this: if it can be considered an appliance, we will not
accept it.
SoCal Computer Recyclers
is the region’s most experienced E/C Event Recycler, having worked with the
cities of Torrance, Los Angeles, Huntington Beach, Monterey Park, Inglewood,
Redondo Beach, Lakewood, and Pasadena. We are committed to solving the problem
of e-waste, and demonstrate our commitment by our level of professionalism and
service.
